Quality assurance starts with our suppliers
Published on 12 January 2022

Roth stands for high-quality precision turned parts. To guarantee the expected high quality at all times, our production practices are subjected to strict quality control measures internally. But the quality assurance process starts way before this, namely with our suppliers.

Roth’s customers are highly demanding. To meet our customers’ standards, we must expect the same high standards of our own suppliers.

Initial assessment

Potential suppliers must first of all complete our self-assessment questionnaire, which collects information about their quality and environmental management practices. We demand that potential suppliers are primarily certified according to ISO 9001 (quality management) and, ideally, according to ISO 14001 (environmental management) as well. For products used in medical technology, certification according to ISO 13485 (quality management for medical devices) is also required and a quality assurance agreement (QAA) is concluded.

The next stage involves sampling. If necessary, an initial sample inspection (including report) of at least three units must be carried out upon delivery of the initial batch for series production. For uncertified suppliers or suppliers that produce components for medical technology, we also conduct an audit once this step has been successfully completed. After a supplier has been approved, they may be subjected to further product or process audits in the future.

Precise testing equipment

For our precision parts, we work with very small tolerances. In order to adhere to them, precise testing equipment is needed. If parts are intended for use in the medical sector, the testing equipment also has to be certified by an accredited testing laboratory. If our suppliers do not have the required measuring instruments, we provide them with Roth testing equipment. This might include plug gauges (to check holes and fits), thread rings/gauges (to check threads) or dial indicators (to check lengths).

Transparent supply chain

It is important to us that we can also trace the supply chain beyond our direct suppliers. Our suppliers are therefore obliged to actively provide us with details of their own suppliers and any process changes. Furthermore, they are responsible for ensuring that their suppliers take suitable measures to meet our quality requirements in full.

Successful together

We know that we expect a lot from our suppliers. But there’s a good reason for this. Through our commitment to quality, we keep our customers happy and can serve as a strong and reliable partner for our suppliers.

We are convinced that our high-quality products will also be very popular in 2022 and will require us all to be at our best again.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our suppliers for making our relationship so special!
