The complexity and demands on the precision of turned parts are constantly increasing, which represents a challenge for Roth. However, thanks to excellent specialists, the latest in technologies and consistent implementation of measurement testing, the precision parts manufacturer has built up extensive technical expertise.
Our globally operating customers are high-tech companies from demanding sectors such as the optical industry. When it comes to producing precision parts, we push the limits of what is possible for our customers. Not only do we produce highly complex and precise parts on our state-of-the-art CNC automatic lathes, but we can also measure the parts directly on the machine thanks to innovative programming technology. Achieving the greatest possible precision depends not only on manufacturing competence but also crucially on measuring competence.
Appropriate strategy
Achieving correct measurement of a precision part requires a well thought out measurement strategy. This defines the measurement method (optical or tactile), the measurement points and the evaluation method (e.g. Gauss or Pferch). Our Quality Team has the necessary experience to define suitable measurement strategies in collaboration with the customer.
Essential requirements
To be able to make a meaningful measurement, the following requirements must be met: The temperature of the measurement room must be within tolerance (20 ± 1 °C) and the measuring devices must be calibrated. In addition, the clamping equipment and temperature of the part must have been tested. A further requirement is that the measurement technicians are well trained in the handling of measuring devices. Our staff are suitably trained and can carry out accurate measurements under optimal conditions in our well-equipped measurement laboratory.
Early measurement testing
For new projects involving complex parts, we work together with the customer to define the measurement strategy and the measuring devices to be used. This is the only way to ensure we do not lose valuable time due to the smallest deviations between our measurement results and those of the customer. Measurement testing is time-consuming, but worth it, since this careful approach allows us to produce parts with the highest precision and quality for our clients.
