The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations are a global plan to promote lasting peace as well as prosperity and protect our planet. We have identified four of these SDGs as particularly relevant to us, and are committed to helping to achieve them.
Vocational training
As a training provider, we are helping to achieve SDG 4, “Quality Education”. Every year since 1978, we have provided one or two production mechanic apprenticeships at VET diploma level. With these apprenticeships, we enable young people to learn an interesting career with lots of opportunities for further training. On completion, there is the opportunity to take up a permanent job with us. Prospects on the labour market are also very strong, given the shortage of skilled staff in mechanical careers.
Fairness
As a production company with attractive working conditions, we are helping to achieve SDG 8, “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. Along with fair working conditions and a modern working environment, we provide a strong corporate culture. We care about the region of Solothurn and Switzerland as a business location, which is why our administrative and production activities are based there.
Resource efficiency
As an innovative producer of precision parts, we are helping to achieve SDG 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production”. We have been certified under ISO 14001 for more than ten years, and are therefore committed to continuous improvement for the benefit of the environment. Environmentally sound production methods and closed-loop recycling allow us to use materials as efficiently as possible.
Energy efficiency
As the owner of highly efficient buildings and machinery, including solar panels, we are helping to achieve SDG 13, “Climate Action”. Our double-glazed building is heated via a heat pump and uses LED-only lighting. All our machinery consists of energy-efficient production systems. On the roofs on our buildings, there are 500 high-performance modules that produce clean solar power, which we use directly on site, saving 33 tonnes of CO2 per year.
